For You Baby

I finally finished this quilt a year after starting it. I originally intended it to be for baby Layla (who will be one in a matter of days), but I didn't feel it had the right mood for her. I made her the bird quilt instead. So I dug out the pieces and put them together for baby #2. The tree is a soft, flannel and is appliqued on so the edges are left raw for a nice texture. I really wanted to name the baby Branch while making this, but Andrew quickly vetoed that one. Blake was really sweet when I explained that his new, baby brother would be using this quilt to squiggle on. He was understanding and kept saying "baby" and pointing to the middle of the quilt. I can only hope it goes that smoothly.
