Here is the lead up to the big day (Cowboys vs. Eagles, er I mean Thanksgiving):

Watching the Seahawks win a couple of days ago.

Blake is very thankful for cousin Nicks who play video games.

Blake's school's Stone Soup production.

Ginpump Cookies

It felt warm and fuzzy to bake on this cool, rainy day.
I tried out a ginger pumpkin cookie recipe.  These cookies are definitely better after they have cooled a bit.

Nov.

I am back from LA.  I brought back some pumpkin inspiration.

1. I had the best appetizer ever!  Pumpkin toast with miso jam, goat cheese, and pumpkin seeds.

2. (Not pumpkin-y, but worth the shout out) Patron Silver with blackberry (uh, yum).

3. Did you know donut holes are called timbits in Canada?  Do you think they named them after Tim's bi... okay, nevermind.
Visit Emma Courtney's blog for a great recipe.

LA

I am really excited to be in LA learning how to be a great LCC.  I am enjoying meeting the high ups in the company and they are giving me the fuel to further the vision.

After Muffins Briefing

I just wanted to post a quick quote from Blake's teacher that made me laugh.  This is tied to the previous post about Blake's after school store:

"Hooray for all of their hard work and a big thank you to the community for coming out with your dollars (and your stray Canadian and Czech currency). "

1988

Here is proof that we did attend Blake's school's first fundraiser of the year.  The theme was 1988 Prom.  I went to the thrift store hours before and was excited when I found Bart Simpson knee length sweat pants.  I found a cheesy puffy paint t-shirt and cut off the sleeves and added fringe to the bottom.  Andrew went as a "Just Do It" guy because 1988 is the year Nike created that marketing campaign.  It was a fun night with oh, so 80's music.

Store

Blake's class (plus the 2nd grade) opened up an after-school store for the day.  Their teacher worked so hard throughout the week teaching them all about the math and business behind such an endeavor.  The kids walked to the grocery store to buy all the materials, emailed everyone and worked on all the logistics, then baked the second half of today to create their goods.  It was a huge success and the kids decided to donate all the money to the local homeless shelter.  They did put a tip jar out because the class would like to purchase some special, yellow markers.

Here is Blake enjoying himself after working his shift.

Arties

I whoop it up when my husband is away on travel by making artichokes.  I am living the life of luxury and independence!

::30 minutes after dinner update::

The kids hated dinner.
Quotes:
Blake - I don't eat flowers
Piper - I not put that in my mouth (with fingers over mouth)
Reade - fake gags quietly

I will have to save artichokes for a night where I go out to dinner at a restaurant myself and then go to a movie by myself.
