Still

I usually stay away from Andrew's hippy-dippy farming magazines, but February's cover of Mother Earth News said "Artisan Home Distilling How-To." This peaked my interest and now I have thoughts of sugar plums running through my head, minus the sugar part.

::note I am already using still-ing jokes::

I am not the biggest brandy wine drinker (have I ever had it?), but the process just seems so darn cool to me.  I have visions of Al-Ambiqs on old lady's stoves bubbling away like a mad scientists' lab.  Who knows if it even makes noise?  An expensive hobby to start, but it is in the back of my brain for when I decided I have no kids to buy clothes/diapers/food for and have tons of time on my hands.

Dr. Chubs

Six month check-up when baby is really seven months. Stats: 90% height, 90% head circumference, and 85% weight. Go on with your big, bad self.

Sluggish

It has been a week since we have been home and I have nothing to show for it. I feel like I have been eating, cleaning, and fussing about baby food. So is the life of a mom. Piper has been waking up every 2-3 hours in the night again so some tough love has been in place. I might not have to go in and deal with her, but I am still waking up on that schedule and it is starting to take its toll on me.

I love our veggie box.
My baby is not a fan of baby food.
Laundry, laundry, laundry.  At least it is cute.

Loners

I post this blog from my comfortable computer in my comfortable home. I have all my things back and am faced with comforting chores, but I feel like something is missing. I miss the Seattle hustle and bustle. I miss people walking by on the street. I miss the bridges. I miss the water. For now, I will be okay with heading to Safeway for some groceries so I can make a home-cooked meal for dinner. Memories of what it was like to pick Andrew up downtown one night:

Seattle Library

Mom, I found your library Mecca.  10 floors of books.  The Seattle Public Library is top notch.

I am still surprised how hilly it is here.  It is just like driving in SF.

Kid Time

I have been seeing Seattle on my terms.  My children have been so great through this, with the occasional, embarrassing public meltdown.   They deserve a morning dedicated to kid things.  First, the Fremont troll bridge.  Blake said he had been planning his ninja attacks for the last couple of days.  Seattle is so flipping kid friendly I am going bonkers with admiration.  Every community center has drop-in tot times all week long starting in the fall.  It is $3/per kid and you can buy punch cards.

Full, Busy Day

* My baby won't eat baby food, but she devoured refried beans at a Mexican food restaurant.  Duh, why didn't I think of that.  She is Mini Miss Andrew.

*Bad traffic on the way to pick Andrew up from work.

* A "friend's" house with a view.

* Google Kirkland.

Foggy Commute

Foggy commute to Google Kirkland.

Fish

We explored downtown Seattle this morning.  It started to snow downtown and only lasted for 10 minutes.  Snow is so calming.  It was calm, but I was screaming excitedly the whole time.

I then took the kids to the Seattle Aquarium.  Fun, but a bit chilly because part of it is outside.  I love how close it is to the new ferris wheel.  Bet your bottom dollar our bottoms will all be on that thing before we leave.

Farmers Marketing

This place is a great combination of hipster, nature, sea, and tons to do.  We hit up the local farmer's market then met friends for lunch.  We walked by Google Seattle (last photo).

Seattle

I think I love you.

Stupid Blogger.  I posted a post yesterday and it said it published.  Today, it was not there.  Sorry for the out of order posting.

Wishing

I was brave and now I am wishing all the flu viruses
that I come in contact with are in that flu shot.

After making my kids watch me get my flu shot
(I don't want them to be wimpy like me)
we headed to an outdoor mall for some
good, old fashioned fountain wishing.

The mall statues seemed happy today.

In Love

My straight iron fell on the bathroom floor and turned into a ghastly beast of broken plastic and exposed wires.  I didn't look forward to researching new flat irons because you either go cheap and get what you pay for or you spend $150 on a silly device for your hair.  I then found this one:

I tried it last night after getting out of the shower.  It totally works and works well.  I have no idea how long it will last, but I am in love with it now.  There is nothing better than straightening your wet bangs before bed and waking up to them still in good shape.

Foraging Fun

I drove over the Golden Gate Bridge
to buy myself a spin bike.
I ♥ spin bikes.

We are taking a trip soon and
I bought this to get in the spirit.
