Bed Bug

My baby asked to take a nap in her brother's bed.  I told her she did in fact have her own big girl bed in her room.  I dug into the closet for her pony sheets ::twiddling my fingers with a smile:: and put together her big girl bed.  It only took three times of putting her back into the bed before she was asleep.  Big girl.

Update: I wrote this blog post yesterday afternoon and I am happy to report that she slept the whole night in her big girl bed.  She didn't climb out or fall out!

Substitute

I almost just purchased a case of 24 diet shakes off of Amazon.com this morning.  I knew that Andrew would kill me if he saw 24 of those things sitting in the pantry.  He always prefers real food over substitutes so it was his voice that helped me delete them from my cart.

Then I realized I had bought this:

It is the Oster My Blend blender.  I got $12 cash back from my Fred Meyer grocery card savings and used it toward this $19.99 appliance.  There in the bottom of my pantry was the unopened, $8 smoothie maker sitting there ready for action.

This thing is awesome.  I love it way more than using my big blender.  Then I found this recipe.  What a good idea to freeze green tea.  I think I will definitely drape a towel over my shoulder every morning when I make this just for an added effect.  You have got to burn at least 2 calories throwing a towel around your neck (right?):

It's Over

No more Saturday sports games!
Yipppeeeee!

Blake never did learn how to catch a football (too scared), but he learned some other fundamentals.  He wants to move on to soccer, basketball, and karate next.

Team shot:

Individual shot:

The End of Season party was hosted at Pritty Boys Pizza.  This place was awesome since they have a huge group room you can rent out for free!
Playing Wii:

Piper enjoyed the old school video games:

Lombardi trophies since it is still the year of the big Superbowl win!:

Pats

This award was in Blake's take-home folder from school today.  I first laughed, and then got mad that they spent PTA $ to print these out and send them home in manila envelopes!  Guess I have to donate more time (just kidding)!

I have to say that I mentally add "On Time" to this award because I am proud of myself for getting Blake to school on time this whole year.  He was never tardy to school.  Anyone who knows me knows that being on time is not in my repertoire, but I can pull myself together when it comes to school and work.

Bucket Hat

Oliver + S has a quick and easy bucket hat tutorial online:

Here is Piper in her new hat.  I have some adorable llama fabric to make the next one out of:

I hope to make a bunch of them like other bloggers:

Naked Nature

We went on a nature walk behind one of the neighborhood grocery stores.  I was blown away at how beautiful it is back there.

We saw a snake in the first few minutes of our walk (that was so cool!):

Blake was excited that the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles live at the trail:

Super slug crossing:

We came across an orchard on the trail and found out that Andrew W. Piper had once owned the land:

I had this magical feeling that I was supposed to find this right at that moment.  I saw it as divine inspiration until...

...my son came running out of the orchard saying, "Mom, there is a naked man in the orchard."  Ewwww.  Creep!  Okay kids, time to turn around and go home.  He took the wind out of my sails.  It is still a beautiful place to be, but I won't go there without my own Mr. Andrew Piper.
