Today is a Junuary day (as they call it here). A checker used the word gloomy today and I snapped back at him. I reminded him that he had seen the sun yesterday and that this is a day of beauty and should be celebrated. We agreed to disagree.
What a great day to plant cactus, right? I have fallen head over heels for mimicry plants. Little succulents that look like little butts. Need I say more?
Will my tiny tuckus plants get the sun they need? It's in the stars.
My mom left this book with me before she headed back to Sacramento. I was skeptical at first because I dislike fiction. I disliked this book in the beginning because it was fictional and added another level of emotional attachment to my already emotionally consumed life. I got absorbed in the book and really enjoyed watching my kids play in the backyard while I put my feet up on my patio furniture, reading in the raindrops. I'm done now. Thanks mom for the good read. I have a familiar appreciation for my own emotional happenings and look forward to getting back to it, and only it, tomorrow. It is that comforting feeling like getting home from a vacation.
I took the boys exploring to see the Discovery Park Lighthouse. Beautiful, peaceful, and wonderful air. Back to real life now - time to attack the grocery store with my three kids.
I ordered our backyard tree swing this morning from Ropetreeswings.com. I wonder if Andrew and I will smile like this when Piper is up on the swing in overalls?
Today we celebrated the dad of our household. I hosted a brunch with two new sets of neighborhood parents (7 kids total between us) and then we turned into lazy blobs. We went to Home Depot and then Mexican food. I love this kombucha makin' man. Our farm is a dream come true and I thank him for being my Superman.
My littlest is 1 year old today. She just walked into my favorite window of child development. Literally, she walked just yesterday for the first time. I love this sweet juice. I love that she has no words yet (just like her brother). I love that she is sharp (just like her other brother). I love that she looks just like her daddy (and brother and aunties). I love that she: climbs everything, screeches like a girl, hugs dollies, makes girl sounds, asks to be put to sleep at night, and gets a mouthful of teeth all at once (unlike anyone else in the family). She is her own Piper Hallie Kay and I love her oh so much for that. I put her to bed and she smelled just like cake. I will gobble up all her yumminess and
dough-y-ness for the rest of her life.
We climbed to the top of the Space Needle for her birthday adventure.
