S*I*X

Blake is 6.
A great birthday weekend has just begun.

Here are the cupcakes I made for his class today:

We had cake and ice cream with my family and got to video chat with Ellen and David:

Jessica got in on the action from Singapore, but only for a minute or two before the connection dropped:

Bedding

A morning out in the yard:

Andrew built his fence.  He has to build some gates and trim some pieces and he is good to go!

On My Mind

This article helped me make a very important decision today.

Spring 1st

Andrew called me this morning on his way to work to wish me a Happy First-Day-Of-Spring.
My head fell and I slipped into a seasonal depression moment.
I should be happy, but I am not.
I hate it when winter is over.
So I pulled out my Magic Eraser and did a bit of Spring cleaning (another reason to hate spring).
Those Magic Erasers are absolutely magical.  I should buy caseloads of these.

What once was an artistic mural...

...is now much less noticeable.  Damn these soft, modern walls.

Friday Feet

Andrew's dad is with us this weekend.  He got to go with me to see Blake's second to last karate lesson.  Here is Blake learning some new technique:

We got into cars and caravaned to Fremont so we could try out a new restaurant (El Camino).  I enjoyed their twist on Mexican cuisine.  We got a late night tour of Google Seattle and then crashed in our respective beds.  Fun Friday I say.

Time for Science

I signed myself up as a Science Fair judge at Blake's school.  I may not be a studied scientist, but I always loved the science fair in elementary school and they desperately needed judges.  I swooped in and loved being a judge.  I loved talking to the kids about their experiments and was proud of their hard work.  It was hilarious to hear some kids say, "My mom and dad picked the experiment.  We then watched a video online of the experiment and then copied it."  It was sweet to then see kids super passionate about magnets and hear their story of having to rebuild pieces of their project over and over again.  A volunteer judge, who has been a judge at Blake's school for over ten years, said, "I am so sick of seeing Mentos in soda."  Since I was new, I spent a lot of time talking to a Mentos/soda kid asking him what it was like trying to get away from an exploding soda bottle.  A very entertaining two hours!

Whistler

It is tough taking three days off for the Google Ski Trip up to Whistler, BC.

Uh-Oh

Creativity - Yes!       Slavery - NO!

Translation: 100 Things I Want
First box: 100 days to play Wii because it's cool.
Second box: 100 slaves because my family needs them.
Third box: I want 100 Skittles because it is yummy.

I asked Blake why we need slaves.  He said, "Mom, we need slaves to do all the work so we can just sit around all day playing Legos."

There will be some discussions ahead and some hard work exposure for the privileged child.

House Weekend

I need to do this:
Houzz

I want to find this on craigslist so I can have a nightstand:

Will this be as good as a read as her last two?:

Biscuit

I finally got my biscuit.

Andrew's old co-worker, and his wife, were passing through town before heading up to Alaska for the Northern Lights so we met them at Serious Pie & Biscuit for some brunch.

Photo from this fun blog.

I ordered their biscuit and gravy, but I should have ordered one of the fancy things.  The mushroom pizza looked fabulous and our guests said it was great.
